I’ve spent the last few days catching up on some stuff. I created some “sweet” versions of a lot of my work and got them published.
I’ve started reviewing audiobooks, too. So there’s a new section on my website with book reviews.
I’ll be back tomorrow with further chapters of Ignited and Leilani & Karov‘s story.
Some images from my flight over the Nazca lines in Peru.
I love trying to write in new genres. In addition to Paranormal Romance, I wrote a Cozy-ish Mystery, a Regency Romance, and now I’m trying my hand at a BDSM story.
But there are some things I can’t see myself writing, mainly because of the type of characters involved.
When I read “Academy” my brain translates it to “Angst.” Most of the time, I want to give angsty characters a good shake and tell them to get over it. So, I will probably never write an “Academy” type story.
I will also probably never write a Mafia story. Or about the archetype character of an Alpha. I mean, who goes around solving problems by hitting others, thinking everything and everyone belongs to them, and that the world has to jump when they say?
Toddlers. Badly behaved toddlers.
That’s right. I said it. I think archetype Alphas are overgrown toddlers. I imagine them wearing diapers and roll my eyes a lot. I just can’t take them seriously, nor can I relate to why anyone would be attracted to that behavior. They are usually paired with someone who, no matter how intelligent and independent they start out, are content to never think for themselves and be ordered around for the rest of their lives.
How Alpha can an Alpha truly be if all the other characters become brainless and submissive? It’s not hard to dominate a doormat.
That’s not to say I don’t make some of my characters jerks at first. Who doesn’t like a good redemption?
But as far as I’m concerned, Alphas can go stand in the corner for a timeout.
Some of the things I saw on my trip to the Arctic. I imagine parts in Louhi's realm of Pohjola looking blue and icy.
